Rotorua – Taupo – Rotorua

A fun filled day awaits us as we ride through rolling hills towards the Great Lake Taupo! The riding around the west of the lake is an absolute blast with virtually no traffic and plenty of bends to give you a grin. After a quick stop at Turangi we head to Taupo for a well-deserved lunch and an afternoon of fun.

Choose from a range of awesome activities from bungy to jet boating to hitting a hole in one on the lake. A leisurely ride with stunning views along the lakeside takes us back towards Rotorua to end the day.

Pre Tour – Rotorua

Come and see us in the late afternoon to get acquainted with your bike, sort out riding gear, carry out a basic competency test and a tour briefing.

Day 1 Rotorua – Whitianga 225km/139miles

We head off towards the Coromandel with some easy riding to get us warmed up. Hugging the Kaimai Ranges towering over us, enjoy some small town hospitality and get your photo taken next to the iconic L&P bottle in Paeroa. We get into some serious riding and end up at the Coromandel Peninsula where we take in the sun shine and get out on the water for a glass bottom boat ride to see the world-famous Cathedral Cove with stunning views and even swim with the local marine life. We stay in the coastal town of Whitianga, dig in to some local tucker and have a laugh.

Day 2 Whitianga – Rotorua 232km/144miles

Around the coast we go, great roads with long sweeping bends and plenty of twists coupled together with breath taking views, taking us on towards Mt Maunganui where we stop for lunch, enjoy the beachside atmosphere, soak up some sun and take a dip. From here we head back to Rotorua through the hilly countryside.

Day 1 Rotorua – Tokomaru Bay 365km/226 miles

We head to Whakatane for a quick stop before riding through the Waioeka Gorge where the road hugs the winding river all the way to sunny Gisborne. This charming coastal town offers dining options to suit every taste and is famous for its sand and surf. We continue on with full bellies to Tokomaru Bay where we relax after a hard days riding and enjoy the atmosphere at the local pub.

Day 2 – Tokomaru Bay – Rotorua 359km/223 miles

Back into it, we continue on the Pacific Coast Highway with stunning views, twisting roads, great food stops and photo opportunities all the way back to Rotorua.

Day 1 Rotorua – Taupo 309km/192 miles

We head off from Rotorua around the lake to enjoy some fun riding, great views and super low traffic around the back of the lake. We ride up an active volcano, Mt Ruapehu, for an early lunch at the highest café in the Southern Hemisphere. We continue on to Taupo and check out the mighty Huka Falls and have the afternoon free to enjoy the lake, take advantage of the great activities Taupo has to offer, enjoy the local shops or just relax.

Day 2 Taupo – Gisborne 332km/206 miles

Today is all about the riding as we head for sunny Gisborne where we encounter some great roads that will give you a grin with plenty of twists and views galore. In Gisborne enjoy a well earnt afternoon of sun and surf or just relax and enjoy this charming coastal town. Being a region famous for wine making head out in the evening and enjoy. Cross the Ahimanawa and Maungaharuru ranges and ride through the vineyards of Eskdale

Day 3 Gisborne – Te Kaha 260km/161 miles

This morning we continue along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway and have an early morning dip off the longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere followed by lunch at an iconic Kiwi pub. We carry on into this remote and isolated region of New Zealand enjoying amazing riding, endless views and wind up in the town of Te Kaha and stay oceanside.

Day 4 Te Kaha – Rotorua 262km/162 miles

An early morning start takes us to Whakatane where you have the opportunity of taking a helicopter flight to the active volcano, White Island, a definite bucket list item! We then head to one the top 10 ranked beaches in the world, Mt Maunganui. Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the local fare at this beachside paradise. We wrap up with a ride through rolling green hills back to Rotorua.

We head off to the great Lake Taupo for some early morning adrenaline fun and enjoy morning tea at the lakeside.

Then it’s off to Turangi for some white water rafting via a scenic ride alongside the great lake.

Day 2 Turangi – New Plymouth 281km/174 miles

Today the riding really begins with a ride up an active volcano, Mt Ruapehu, for morning tea at the highest café in the Southern Hemisphere. We carry on from here to the Forgotten World Highway and arrive for lunch at the famous Whangamomona Hotel. Next stop, New Plymouth where we bed down after a hard day of heart pounding riding.

Day 3 New Plymouth – Waitomo 238km/147 miles

Here we meet the stunning Taranaki coastline along a nice run up towards Waitomo. Here we stop for an afternoon of the unforgettable experience of Black Water Rafting! Where you get to climb, tube and leap through subterranean caves. Tonight, we stay in Waitomo and enjoy the local hospitality.

Day 4 Waitomo – Rotorua 276km/171 miles

Today we ride through rolling hills with views that will take your breath away to the secluded bay of Kawhia, where we dig down into the beautiful black sand to reveal hot water pools to soak the aches away. After lunch, we continue the ride with more stunning scenery as we head back east and cruise through the charming town of Cambridge back towards Rotorua where we left our fear behind.
